Our lab uses a combination of interdisciplinary approaches including biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and protein engineering to address one of the key global challenges involving antimicrobial resistance. We aim at developing novel antibiotic drugs by targeting alanine racemase, a key enzyme required for bacterial survival. Few of our multi-drug resistant human pathogenic bacteria targets are Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, etc.
